Scotland has been blessed to have a successful school system serving the Scotland community for over 90 years to educate our children.   Over the years, many caring individuals have provided leadership and financial support to ensure the quality of education and sports were being provided close to home.   On a daily basis, children’s lives are being touched because of the presence of our educational system.  Today, there are members of our community that would like to update an important landmark that will help our community and school.  We are asking for your help in replacing our existing Cinder Track to an All Weather Track.

With a new All Weather Track, it will bring many benefits to our students, school and community.

·         All Weather Tracks are easier to run on and are currently being used at nearly all track events.

·         Our athletes will have the advantage to improve themselves for competition and position themselves for college scholarships.

·         Athletes would not need to go to another town to practice for state qualifying events.

·         Scotland could once again host track meets which mean additional revenue to our community and school.

·         The rubber mat surface is safer and softer than gravel and easier on your joints.

·         Community Members would be welcome to utilize the track to enhance their own fitness level.

·         All Weather Tracks are very durable, providing years of service to the school and community.

For the past few months volunteers have been working on the “Track Restoration Project” to ask for community and alumni support to rebuild this important landmark.  Our goal is to raise $125,000 through public and private donations.  We understand this is a large sum of money to raise, but would like to encourage you into making a monetary gift to this project according to your means.  The Track Restoration Project is partnering with the Scotland Economic Development Corporation.

Donations may be sent to Farmers and Merchant State Bank SHS Track Fund, P.O. Box 367, Scotland, SD 57059.  Please make checks payable to SHS Track Fund.

Whatever you decide, your gift will make a positive difference in the overall wellness and prosperity of the Scotland community.   On behalf all those who will be served, we say thank you for your time and attention of this request.
