Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers fell to Vermillion Varsity Tanagers 10-5 on Tuesday at Vermillion.
Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers got on the board in the top of the first inning after Vermillion Varsity Tanagers committed an error, Vermillion Varsity Tanagers committed an error, and Kolton Bierle flew out, each scoring one run.
Vermillion Varsity Tanagers flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring five runs on one hit to take the lead, 7-5. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Nolan Nygren that drove in two.
Ryan Vitt earned the win for Vermillion Varsity Tanagers. The pitcher gave up three hits and two runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out four and walking two. Lane Pavel took the loss for Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers. The pitcher went one-third of an inning, giving up one run on zero hits, striking out none and walking one. Garret Lehr led things off on the hill for Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers. The starter surrendered five hits and seven runs (three earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking four. Beacom stepped on the bump first for Vermillion Varsity Tanagers. The starter gave up five hits and three runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking one.
Carson Pietz provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers with two runs batted in. Riley Keppen, Pavel, and Luke Bierle each collected two hits for Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers. Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers turned one double play in the game.
Vermillion Varsity Tanagers piled up nine hits in the game. Nygren led Vermillion Varsity Tanagers with four runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 3-for-4 on the day. Vitt collected two hits for Vermillion Varsity Tanagers in four at bats. Vermillion Varsity Tanagers had a strong eye at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Grant Roerig and Cleveland led the team with two walks each. Matthew Roob stole two bases. Vermillion Varsity Tanagers stole five bases in the game.

Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers and Wagner Varsity Red Raiders played a taut affair on Tuesday, but Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers eventually prevailed 10-9 at Scotland. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the fourth when Bierle singled, scoring one run.
Despite falling down by four runs in the fifth inning, Wagner Varsity Red Raiders tried to fight back. Wagner Varsity Red Raiders closed the gap by scoring on a walk, a single, and an error.
Wagner Varsity Red Raiders were the first to get on the board in the first when Turner singled, scoring one run.
Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Guthmiller singled to center field, and Guthmiller stole home, each scoring one run.
Wagner Varsity Red Raiders jumped into the lead in the top of the second when Turner doubled, scoring two runs, and Kazena singled, scoring one run.
Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers took the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Guthmiller grounded out, Neuharth singled down the right field line, and Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run.
Wagner Varsity Red Raiders took the lead in the top of the fourth. Turner singled, scoring two runs, to give Wagner Varsity Red Raiders the leg up, 6-5.
Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Guthmiller doubled down the left field line, Bierle singled to the left side of the infield, McNinch tripled down the right field line, and Hlavac singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.
Guthmiller earned the win for Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers. The pitcher surrendered 10 hits and nine runs (eight earned) over seven innings, striking out seven and walking six. Wright took the loss for Wagner Varsity Red Raiders. The hurler went six innings, giving up 10 runs (nine earned) on 13 hits, striking out six and walking five.
Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers amassed 13 hits in the game. Guthmiller and Bierle were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers while hitting back-to-back. Guthmiller provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 3-for-4 on the day. McNinch and Schrock each collected multiple hits for Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers. Guthmiller, Bierle, and Schrock each stole multiple bases for Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers. The right-handed hitter went 3-for-3 on the day. Kotab collected two hits for Wagner Varsity Red Raiders in four at bats. Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers Defeats Parker Varsity Pheasants On Back Of Clutch Display From Santiago
May 19, 2026 vs. Parker Varsity Pheasants
Santiago drove in four runs on one hit to lead Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers past Parker Varsity Pheasants 10-2 on Tuesday at Scotland. In the sixth inning, Santiago doubled, scoring one run.
Guthmiller struck out 11 batters on the day. The righty also surrendered five hits and two runs over seven innings while walking two.
Parker Varsity Pheasants opened the scoring in the first after Even singled, scoring one run.
Schaeffer walked, which helped Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers tie the game at one in the bottom of the second.
Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on two hits to take the lead, 6-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a ground out by Santiago that drove in two.
Preheim took the loss for Parker Varsity Pheasants. The starting pitcher went six innings, giving up 10 runs on eight hits, striking out two and walking 11.
Bierle, McNinch, Kubal, Neuharth, Hlavac, Santiago, and Schaeffer each collected one hit for Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers. McNinch paced Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up 11 walks for the game. Kubal stole two bases. Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers ran wild on the base paths, piling up five stolen bases for the game. Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers turned one double play in the game.
Ebeling and Even each drove in one run for Parker Varsity Pheasants. Even went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Parker Varsity Pheasants in hits. Parker Varsity Pheasants turned one double play in the game.
